Macklin Care Homes Training Scheme for the Unemployed

30th July 2019

Macklin Care Homes are now offering job opportunities for the unemployed in Belfast following completion of a four-week training programme.

Macklin Care Homes has developed a scheme to equip unemployed members of society with recognised qualifications in health and social care skills.

No experience is necessary for the training at Macklin’s Parkmanor Oaks Care Home in Dunmurry, however applicants must be over 18.

In association with the Department for the Economy (DfE) and Belfast Met, trainees can gain an ONC NI Level 2 Award in vocational skills on the role and responsibilities of the Health and Social Care Worker and an understanding of the tasks involved in working as a healthcare assistant.

The selection process for a pre-employment training place will include an information day and an interview, with shortlisted candidates required to complete an enhanced Access NI check. Following successful completion of the training programme, individuals will be guaranteed a job interview for a Healthcare Assistant position with Macklin Care Homes.

Launching the opportunity, Graeme Wilkinson, Director of Skills at DfE, said: “The Department’s Bridge to Employment programme is an excellent opportunity for those who are unemployed to undertake training and gain meaningful employment in a range of jobs which contribute to the growth of the local economy. This pre-employment training opportunity developed by the Department, Belfast Met and Macklin Care Homes, will help to equip participants with the skills needed to compete for a job within the Healthcare industry.”

Claire McCay, Group HR Manager for Macklin Care Homes, added: “We are delighted to partner with DfE and Belfast Met for the Bridge to Employment programme. Our company values centre around our people and their development and we love helping people realise their full potential. This programme will not only develop skills and confidence but will also give participants a valuable insight into the care industry. This is a brilliant opportunity for anyone who would love a career in care to join our award winning team!”
