Arlington Nursing Home – The Fittest Home!

26th September 2017

Arlington Nursing Home have been crowned our 'Fittest Home' in the recent 'Get on your bike' challenge

As part of our Health & Wellbeing initiative in the Macklin Group we previously mentioned we were running the ‘Get on your bike’ fittest home challenge. Each care home was given an exercise bike to put their fitness to the test to see who could rack up the most miles.

Every day our hardworking staff took turns to cycle as much as they could for an extra boost to their fitness, and also to showcase their competitive side. After four full weeks of cycling away, our staff are now fit as fiddles – one home in particular!

Arlington Nursing Home, Ormeau Road, were officially crowned ‘Macklin Care Home’s Fittest Home’ which is quite the achievement considering they are the smallest home in the group! They managed to cycle an impressive 251.1 km and were presented with a personalised trophy and cupcakes from Mary Macklin herself.

The team at Arlington (pictured) were over the moon and proud as punch when they received their trophy. Nurse Manager, Jacinta Silva said; “We worked extremely hard on the challenge, we are so happy to win the trophy, after all the exercise we have done now it’s time to fatten up with the cupcakes!”

Well done to the team at Arlington and to Milesian Manor, Ratheane, Leabank and Park Manor for your fantastic efforts and teamwork for the challenge.
