Nurses Week 2026: Meet Veena

To mark Nursing Week, we are shining a spotlight on our nurses across Macklin Care Homes. As part of this, we caught up with Veena, our new Registered Staff Nurse at Milesian Manor Nursing Home in Magherafelt.

What is your name and current job role, and at what home?

My name is Veena Rito Simhalan and I’m a Registered Staff Nurse at Milesian Manor Nursing Home.

How long have you worked at Macklin Care Homes?

I joined Macklin Care Homes early April 2026.

How long have you worked as a nurse in your career?

I started my career in 2010 outside the UK and recently began working as a nurse in the UK.

What inspired you to become a nurse / get into the care sector?

I chose nursing because I love to care for people. I like to support and look after them according to their needs, and to make them happy even during difficult times.

What do you enjoy most about working in nursing, and working at Macklin?

I really like the way of work, as well as the staff support and guidance during my induction. I really appreciate the management, who always make sure their staff are comfortable at their work.

What is the most rewarding part of your role?

The most rewarding part is making a real difference in people’s lives, building meaningful connections, and seeing progress in their condition and speedy recovery.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my son and chatting with my friends and family.
