Each year on the third Monday in January, Blue Monday marks “the most depressing day of the year”…
This year, Macklin Group decided to flip the script and surprise our hard-working staff with a sweet and comedic surprise!
Regional Manager Christine Thompson transformed her look into an almost unrecognisable “Smurfette” and embarked on a road trip across all six care homes to surprise staff with sweets and a chat.
Remarks from team members included “This has made my day”, “I can’t believe what I am seeing” and “Now this is leadership!”

Christine, Regional Manager at Macklin Group expressed her reasons behind the idea;
“You never know what someone is going through, it’s important to make them smile every now and again. Working in care can be heavy at times. As a team, we come together and look after each other. I thoroughly enjoyed taking the time to do something different today, it had such a great impact and made staff smile.”
The fun visits served as an important reminder to keep smiling and enjoying life while working hard!
