A successful Alzheimer's Month at Macklin Group

We’ve kicked off the Season of Giving by presenting Dementia NI with £4,537 raised by Macklin Group earlier this year.

We chose to support Dementia NI throughout September as it is World Alzheimer’s Month, and it is a charity very close to our hearts – One of the founders of the organisation is currently a resident at Parkmanor Care Home!

At Macklin Care Homes, we provide care for many people living with dementia, and we experience first-hand how lives are dramatically changed by a dementia diagnosis.

Our fundraising efforts included an End of Summer party at Parkmanor with bake sales, a raffle and car wash, along with a quiz event held at The Malone Hotel. Activities Therapist Colin Williams from Parkmanor also completed an Ultra Marathon across the Causeway Coast, covering 40 miles for the charity.

We’re proud to have raised £4,537 – A total resembling “FOR-GET” turned out to be a stark reminder of the challenge dementia poses.

Thank you to everyone who got involved with our Dementia Quiz event or who donated directly.

Dementia NI is a charity set up to help those with dementia live life to the full. They drive positive change and provide empowerment groups, peer support and they work collaboratively with HSCTs (Health and Social Care Trusts), Queen’s University, Ulster University and other stakeholders to co-produce research and influence healthcare and social care delivery.
