Park Manor & Head Office abseil down the Europa Hotel in aid of Suicide Awareness

14th November 2017

The brave team at Park Manor nursing home organised a charity abseil in aid of Suicide Awareness which took place at one of Belfast’s most iconic buildings – Europa Hotel.

Abseiling is a thrilling, adrenaline-fuelled experience which involves making a controlled descent of a vertical drop using a rope. Abseil challenges need a bit of mental grit, but professional equipment and on-the-day training makes abseiling a smooth experience.

14 members of staff from Park Manor and Head Office faced their fears and took on the 167ft challenge. Everyone met on the roof and began the day by giving each other motivational pep talks to prepare for the big event.

Friends, family members and even the Macklin family came along to show their support and cheer on our courageous team members.

The Suicide Awareness Support Group delivers bereavement support to those bereaved by suicide and organise a bridging support structure for those recently bereaved.  They provide intervention services for those at risk of suicide and endeavour to raise the issue of suicide prevention to ultimately help reduce the suicide rate. Another fantastic fundraising effort from the team, the final total raised will be announced at a later date.
